Why should I read and study the Bible?
The short answer is “because of what the Bible is and what the Bible can do.”
You see, the Bible is God’s completed, written revelation to us as found in the Old and New Testaments. It is infallible, totally authoritative, sufficient for all our needs and accomplishes all its promises. It is food for our spiritual nourishment (1 Peter 2:2), a lamp for our guidance (Psalm 119:105), a weapon against our spiritual enemies (Ephesians 6:17), and equipment for every good work (2 Timothy 3:17).
It is in the Bible that we learn about salvation and how to be saved
(2 Timothy 3:15; Romans 10:17; 1 Peter 1:23). And it is by reading what God says to us and applying it to our lives every day that we are blessed, become fruitful and mature in our spiritual life.
So read the Bible every day. It will keep you from sin and keep you on the straight and narrow path for God’s glory and the good of your own life.
